Apple Shining Bright

Well Apple Computer has been shining bright this year, and with Macworld(MWSF) around the corner things are looking even brighter.

There are many hopes of lower prices for the Intel based Macs and also for upgraded hardware like graphics cards which are always 4 times the price of the PC counter parts.

The other question is will Apple use the "Intel inside" label, Or as BusinessWeek asks "Is Apple going to accept "Intel Inside" money and all that goes with it? ".

It would be nice to see Apple computers on TV ads, but that's not on the top of the list.
I also think most of us just want a machine that runs Mac OS X as fast as possible and don't care if there's a gerbil inside doing it.

Right now the Apple is shining super bright, analyst Richard Doherty of The Envisioneering Group is saying
“In the consumer electronics world, there’s always talk now about Apple, the way people used to talk about Sony" [...] "At the water cooler or in boardrooms, they’re asking, ‘What is Apple doing next?’ or ‘How do we stay out of their way?”

As news reports of Apple’s momentum accelerated in 2005. With the likes of Companys like Time Warner Inc.'s HBO cable network wanting to put their programs on the iTunes store, the sky is the limit.

But some think this momentum will slow in January as they think Jobs will not announce any new Macs. One site TechWB says they know somebody on a "higher level" at Apple. They are saying:
"Apple says not to expect Intel at Macworld, in fact don’t expect any new computer hardware. I have contact with someone that works for Apple at a higher level, when asked if they were attending Macworld he said he is not attending this year however they were not told to go or even that they don’t have to go, instead they were told that they shouldn’t go. Typically if there is a big announcement they are expected to attend. My opinion is that this is a sign that they are not going to be releasing any kind of new apple computer hardware or else they would need to go. This means that for anyone hoping for the new Intel computers your out of luck, no hardware will be announced except for maybe the normal speed boosts since those wouldn’t be any reason for them to attend. The only announcements will be coming from the other non computer hardware departments such as new iPods, iSight, Monitors, Programs, and other software and accessories."
Don't know who his "Higher level" contact is, but he's betting against most analysts. Plus personally I hope he's wrong. I guess we shall all know on the 10th of January.

So for now we will just wait and see, and keep our current Macs up-to-date.
Speaking of up-to-date, Seems 10.4.4 may be on our Macs before years end according to the AppleInsider.
"According to sources and reports already present on the Web, Mac OS X 10.4.4 (rumored to be build 8G22) stands to deliver over 120 bug fixes to the Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger" operating system. Targeted areas are said to include audio, AppleScript, Bluetooth, Dashboard widgets, DVD Player, graphics, graphics drivers, iChat, Safari, and Spotlight."
According to the site "If Apple's Mac OS X Update schedule in recent years is any indication, Mac OS X 10.4.4 Update should see a release just prior to the Apple's holiday break which occurs near the last week of December." now some say that "this build (8G22) only has one known issue in the form of possible leaks in OpenGL."
Sounds like fix that and it's good to go!!

Also in the news is Oklahoma City University becoming a Apple Digital Campus. It seems that students and faculty alike in OCU's School of Music will use Apple Computer's PowerBook line of laptops in their classwork.

"Students won't receive Apple products as part of their tuition, they will be available to them at deep discounts, said Susan Barber, vice president for academic services. Student also will use iPods and Apple's iSight streaming video camera as part of their coursework, she said."

Of coarse Everybody want's to use a Apple product right? And many men of power as well want a Apple product, which includes the most powerful man in the world President Bush. MDN has a link to a video of the pres showing his 4G iPod and reads some of the songs contained within. So you think he has a Quad Power Mac G5 in his oval office??
